Project vision
To increase access to affordable and reliable clean energy sources and technologies for women in last-mile communities in Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and implement interventions supporting women to develop energy-based livelihoods.
Activities
ENERGIA supported the project in three key ways:
- Conducting a gender review of the energy sector in the target countries (at both a national and regional level). View the full report here.
- Facilitating direct interventions to support gender-inclusive access to energy and energy-based livelihoods.
- Designing and implementing a project performance management system.
ENERGIA further supported the training of women in energy-based enterprises. The training comprised:
- Basic enterprise training, aimed at developing the basis understanding of participating women on business and enterprise issues;
- Advanced skills training, targeting specific topics for the entrepreneurs.
- Mentoring support for the entrepreneurs, provided through business development facilitators.
ENERGIA also supported the Electricity Users’ Committees (EUCs) representing the project community (in Nepal) in their capacity building for internalizing women entrepreneurship development in their overall planning.
