Ensure a gender perspective is integrated into Nepal’s leading efforts to promote efficient electric cooking as part of the country’s broader aim of ensuring sustainable energy for all.
Activities and impacts
Drawing on ENERGIA’s long history of collaboration in the energy sector in Nepal, our key activities included:
- Acting as lead partner for MECS on clean cooking in Nepal (together with Practical Action Nepal), co-convening relevant partners to share knowledge and expertise.
- Conducting research and providing technical leadership on gender-responsive electric cooking to ensure successful uptake and sustained use.
- Raising awareness and engaging actors in Nepal on issues of gender in electric cooking to enhance commitment to the findings and the future development, adaptation and implementation of policies and programs.
- Developing and testing a research framework and methods on gender aspects of electric cooking that is adapted to the local context in Nepal, and can be used for future multi-country research.
