Celebrating 25 years of building gender-equal energy access
2021 marks ENERGIA’s 25th anniversary. On this occasion, we have the opportunity not only to look back on our past achievements, but also to reflect on the challenges that we still have to address to ensure universal energy access and a just, inclusive, gender-equal and sustainable energy transition.
Looking at the past 25 years, the energy sector has changed. Gender has become an issue. Policies, institutions, communities have experienced the importance of integrating gender approaches and how these strategies enhance the positive impacts of projects and programs. However, the level of awareness of the gender and energy nexus is still low, along with sex-disaggregated data and gender statistics, women’s participation and recognition in energy institution and in policy.
In this virtual space, we will be discussing these issues with current and former colleagues, partners, and women’s entrepreneurs who have played a crucial role in building the ENERGIA Network and raising awareness to deliver on our sustainable goals.
