Call for Case Studies for COP21

The French Delegation for COP21, along with a representative of the UNFCCC Secretariat, met with GGCA Members at the UNFCCC Bonn Intersessional in June 2015 to express interest in stories from the field demonstrating the success and efficacy of including gender in climate change mitigation. These stories will help move discussions about gender and climate change from the policy level to methods for project implementation and action. The stories may be shared at high-‐level meetings during the COP21 Gender Day and in gender-‐supporting side events. These stories will also be featured online at the GGCA website, and we will share out suggestions for social media leading up to and during Gender Day at COP 21 and the Global Landscapes Forum.

It is the hope of the Working Group that this project will help mainstream gender throughout COP21 and garner policy and support for the climate change mitigation projects of the members of the GGCA. Further opportunities may be available for participants in theproject.

This collaboration is open to all members of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA).

Case Study Guidelines

The focus is on demonstrating how we are moving beyond the concept of gender and climate linkages, to present specific examples of “implementation and action” through on‐the‐ground case study examples. All case studies should focus on the importance and success of incorporating a gender perspective when implementing climate change solutions. Potential topic areas could include gender and technology transfer, agriculture, REDD, climate finance instruments, mitigation, adaptation, etc. Studies grounded in research providing an evidence base are preferred. Each organization may submit one case study.

Please include in the submission:

  1. Organization name, logo, and website address
  2. Name of author and position
  3. A short write-up (max. 400 words) explaining a success story for your organization integrating gender into climate change solutions
  4. High quality photo of work in action with caption
  5. A link to the project or program if one exists, or a link to organization’s website

We ask that all contributions be submitted by September 30,2015 to Hilary Landfried, Practitioners Working Group Co-Chair, hlandfried@projectgaia.com and Cara Beasley, GGCA Coordinator, cara@gender‐climate.org. All contributions will be reviewed, edited for consistency, and sent to contributors for final approval by October 31st.
