Making SDG7 a reality requires concerted efforts across the broadest possible range of stakeholders. To align on Africa’s and Europe’s shared priorities in achieving this goal, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) is holding its Forum Aligning Energies for a Green and Prosperous Africa on 20 October 2021.
The half-day event will bring together key stakeholders working for energy and climate across Africa. Panel debates and round table discussions include thought leaders and practitioners from business, civil society and research. Discussions will be held in English and French. In a joint conversation, representatives from the African Union Commission and European Commission will also outline next steps for energy in Africa and look ahead to the next AU-EU Summit in 2022.
Speakers include H.E. Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, African Union Commission, Thomas Huyghebaert, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to AU, Rana Adib, Executive Director, REN21 and Johan van den Berg, Head of Secretariat, Africa-EU Energy Partnership.
The Forum’s Topic Arena provides a virtual space to engage with leading initiatives working on vital dimensions of the African energy transition. African and European organisations will be available to network and exchange ideas on key themes such as green infrastructure, financing or women empowerment.
