Ministries, local and national governments, private sector, civil society, youth organizations and other stakeholders will gather virtually over five days (21-25 June 2021) determined to discuss the roadmap towards achieving universal energy access by 2030 in preparation for the September UN High-level Dialogue on Energy.
The Ministerial-level Thematic Forums will focus on five themes: energy access; energy transition; enabling the SDGs through inclusive, just energy transitions; innovation, technology, and data; and finance and investment. This event provides an opportunity to advance gender equality in the energy sector, amplify women’s voices and accelerate actions on gender and energy.
ENERGIA is therefore pleased to invite you to join the following sessions, hosted and organised by key actors in the promotion and advancement of gender and energy access for all.
Transforming lives through energy inclusion: Experiences from grass-root women entrepreneurs
Tuesday, June 22, 2021 | 06:00 – 07:00 EST / 12:00 – 13:00 CEST / 15:30 – 16:30 IST
ENERGIA and SEWA have joined forces to bring women entrepreneurs to the high-level discussion. We often report that women are underrepresented in the energy sector and do not have a platform to share knowledge and advocate for their needs.
The side event “Transforming lives through energy inclusion: Experiences from grass-root women entrepreneurs”, will see the participation of four women entrepreneurs working in rural or peri-urban areas in Africa and Asia, who are leaders in their communities. They work in different fields, including clean cooking, productive uses of energy, and solar technologies.
